Bob Melvin, Jr. of Fredericksburg, VA, was named the top auctioneer in Virginia at the annual Virginia Auctioneers Association Auctioneer Championships held August 4 in Richmond, VA.  Melvin, a real estate sales associate with Nicholls Auction Marketing Group, had competed in the competion before, but this year he rose to the top of a very tough field of 26 competitors.  The contestants participated in a live auction, and were judged on clarity, poise, crowd communication, product knowledge, and overall auctioneering skill.
