
John S. Nicholls is President of Nicholls Auction Marketing Group, Inc., and oversees all day to day operations of the company. A second generation auctioneer, he is a graduate of Bob Jones University in Greenville, SC, with a BA in Psychology and a MS in Personnel Services. In 1990, John graduated from the World Wide College of Auctioneering in Mason City, Iowa. John currently conducts over 250 auctions per year for Fortune 500 companies and is a licensed realtor. John is an active member of the National Auctioneers Association and the Virginia Auctioneers Association where he has served on the Board of Directors, numerous committees, and is currently President Elect. He also serves as a featured instructor at the World Wide College of Auctioneering in Mason City, IA, and has instructed at Reppert’s School of Auctioneering in Auburn, IN. John has had the honor to represent the auction profession on the TODAY Show, the National Association of Realtors Convention, St. Judes Children’s Research Hospital, several state associations, multiple news publications, and on a real estate auction consulting trip to South Africa.
John is also one of auctioneer’s at the prestigious Barrett-Jackson Collector Car Auction. These multi-million dollar auctions are held twice a year in Scottsdale, AZ, and West Palm Beach, FL.
John is active at Spotswood Baptist Church in Fredericksburg, VA, and serves on the Boards of Virginia Community Bank, the Spotsylvania County Economic Development Authority, the Rappahannock YMCA, the World Automobile Auctioneers Professional Association, and the Joe Gibbs Youth for Tomorrow Foundation.
Some of John’s accomplishments include the following: 1990 Virginia Auctioneers Association Rookie of the Year, 1994 Virginia State Champion Auctioneer, 2003 Virginia Auctioneer of the Year, 2003 World Automobile Auctioneer Champion (Nashville, TN), and 2006-07 NAA Men’s Division Champion of the International Auctioneer’s Championship (Orlando, FL).

Charles Nichollsis the founder and chairman of the board of Nicholls Auction Marketing Group. He, along with his wife Jean, founded the company in 1968 and together they have devoted their professional lives to building a successful business. Charles graduated from the Reisch Auctioneering School (now World Wide College of Auctioneering) in Mason City, IA, in 1968. He is a member of the National Auctioneers Association and the Virginia Auctioneers Association where he has served on the Board of Directors and numerous committees.
For the past 30 years, Charles Nicholls has been head auctioneer at the two largest auto auctions in the state of Virginia. He is a licensed realtor and a certified appraiser by C.A.G.A.. Charles is a trustee and active member of Spotswood Baptist Church, and he is very active in the Fredericksburg community serving many non-profit organizations for 40 years. He was awarded the Bernie Hart Memorial Award by the National Automobile Auction Association in October 2004 in Nashville, TN. This award recognizes a lifetime of superior achievement, leadership, and overall professionalism in the industry. In 2006, Charles was honored by being named to the Virginia Auctioneer’s Hall of Fame. Charles, a gifted teacher and mentor to many, is a true legend in the world of auctioneering.

J.T. Clark has been with Nicholls Auction Marketing Group since 1987, and oversees day to day operations in the Richmond, VA, area. J.T. is the Regional Head Auctioneer for a nationally recognized Fortune 500 Company in charge of thirteen (13) weekly and biweekly auctions in six (6) different states. He is a 1986 graduate of the Mendenhall School of Auctioneering in High Point, NC, and in 1988-89, he was awarded the coveted titled of Virginia State Champion Auctioneer.
J.T. is a graduate of Mosley Flint Real Estate School, and he is an active member of the Virginia Auctioneers Association where he has served on the Board of Directors, numerous committees, and is currently President. In 2004, J.T. was honored with the Virginia Auctioneers Association’s 2004 Auctioneer of the Year. J.T. is also a member of the National Auctioneers Association.

Shields Jones, a graduate of Virginia Tech, joined Nicholls Auction Marketing Group in 1984, after being raised as a second generation auctioneer in the business.
After a stellar career with the Department of Agriculture in Washington, D.C., Shields currently serves as the office manager of the firm, and works closely with the day to day operations of the company. He came to Nicholls with an expertise in antiques and glassware and also works closely with Nicholls’ estate auction division. Shields also has a passion for the State 4H programs, and serves several chapters throughout Virginia.

Kelly Strauss is the Northern Neck representative for Nicholls Auction Marketing Group. He joined the company in 1998, after graduating from the World Wide College of Auctioneering in Mason City, IA. He is an active member of the National Auctioneers Association and the Virginia Auctioneers Association where he has served on numerous committees. In 2000, Kelly was awarded with the title Virginia Rookie Auctioneer of the Year.
In his 25 year sales career, Kelly has attended various sales schools from Birmingham, AL to Dublin, OH. He is active in his church and community serving as a member of the King George Planning Commission, the King George Chamber of Commerce and is Den Leader for the Cub Scouts.
Kelly also holds certification in bi-lingual auctioneering (Spanish) from the World Wide College of Auctioneering. In addition to his love for real estate auctions, Kelly also conducts many automobile auctions for Fortune 500 Companies. He also currently serves as a bid assistant for the prestigious Barrett-Jackson Collector Car Auction in Scottsdale, AZ.

David Clark graduated in 1989 from the Mendenhall School of Auctioneering in High Point, NC, and soon thereafter developed a relationship with Nicholls Auction Marketing Group.
David is a subcontract auctioneer working four (4), or more, auctions weekly for several large companies including two major US corporations. He works in the Richmond area in real estate and equipment auctions, and he is an active member in the Virginia Auctioneers Association.

Bob Melvin, Jr., a graduate of James Madison University (BA in Business Administration) in Harrisonburg, VA, has been with Nicholls Auction Marketing Group since 1997. Upon college graduation, Bob applied his management and marketing skills in a fourteen year career that included two Fortune 500 companies. Bob is a sales associate in Nicholls’ real estate division.
Bob is a graduate of the World Wide College of Auctioneering in Mason City, IA, and he is a licensed Realtor. He has conducted auctions for Goodwill Industries since 1999, and is also conducts weekly auctions for Fortune 500 Companies. He is a member of the National Auctioneers Association and the Virginia Auctioneers Association. Bob currently holds the title of Virginia State Champion Auctioneer (2007-08).

Craig Damewood, a life-long resident of Loudoun County, VA, is a 1978 graduate of Reppert’s School of Auctioneering in Auburn, IN. In addition to real estate expertise, Craig has an astute 30 year auction knowledge of antiques, farm and heavy equipment, and estate liquidations. Craig conducts 250+ auctions per year for Fortune 500 companies in Virginia and large corporations in Pennsylvania and West Virginia.
Craig is an active member in the National Auctioneers Association and the Virginia Auctioneers Association where he served as 2004 President , 2005 Chairman of the Board, and numerous committee assignments. Some of Craig’s many accomplishments include: 1999 Virginia State Champion Auctioneer and 2003 Virginia Auctioneer of the Year.

David Mast is a graduate of Nashville Auction School in Nashville, TN, and has been with Nicholls Auction Marketing Group since 2006. David has extensive expertise in machinery, equipment, livestock, and real estate auctions. Before joining Nicholls, David was involved with several prominent agricultural auction firms along the East Coast, and he was a successful business owner for 20+ years. David is a licensed Realtor, and is an active member in the Virginia Auctioneers Association.

Hunter Raines is a 2004 graduate of Nashville Auction School in Nashville, TN. A dynamic young man, Hunter is an active member of the Virginia Auctioneer Association and the National Auctioneer Association. Hunter has earned the following designations: Graduate Personal Property Appraiser (GPPA) with completed course work in Antiques, Collectibles, Construction Equipment, and Agricultural Equipment; Certified Estate Specialist (CES); and Graduate of Moseley-Flint School of Real Estate.
